The 750cc V-twin Deauville with its built in weather protection and luggage storage was Honda’s ‘small’ tourer. It was the biggest bike I ever owned both in size and weight. A great bike to ride, especially on major roads and motorways where having two up made no apparent difference.

We took it to the Isle of Man via Liverpool and had the obligatory lap of the TT course. Unfortunately the mountain section was in thick cloud so it was a very sedate ride.

Its overall weight meant that you had to keep the steering fairly straight when stopping. Too much steering angle meant the bike was always likely to lie down and care was needed. If it did lie down it needed a significant lift to get it upright again.
